Interesting to see the "progressive skins" thing; Apex does something similar, but without needing to spend money for the upgrades; styles unlock depending on cumulative damage done over all games. Dota 2 does something similar, with items unlocking alternate styles based on a (usually step) time investment.
I feel like for every strategy a company does to say "okay, we're going to lock some cosmetic behind a skill-based challenge you can't buy your way into to make it rewarding" another ten go "that must mean we can just charge people MORE, right??"
