Good write up! Worth noting is that 1) not all games require the same time commitment and 2) steam plays host to significantly more cheap and short games.

Few games that people will play on steam will hit north of 100 hours. So just because players spend more hours on one specific game, it doesn't mean their engagement levels with the other games are lower quality.

Hi! Very interesting article. I stumbled upon it while searching for the number of games the average Steam user has for a dissertation in university.

Anyway, I just wanted to add something. I am part of those people with more than 1000 games (I have almost 2500 according to Steam) and in the community of game collectors there are farmers. So maybe you could have a specific "warning" that games that "drop" items may have higher hours "played" but not really engaged. I know Don't Starve Together is one game and CS:GO had that feature too idk if it's still worth the energy as they had a VIP pass installed at one time (I never played that game so I don't know much).

Very nice and well put together. This kinda tracks with my own personal habits. A lot of games owned but also a-lot of hours poured into a few of those.
